Whenever a client presents to me with an active case of post traumatic stress disorder, I share some simple tapping tips.  These include the use of just a couple of points that any person can utilize immediately without any training in specific MTT or EFT protocols.

As a person is "melting down" or "blowing up" it is beneficial to tap on the "third eye" point between the two eyebrow points. This will break up the negative inner mind chatter and allow some of the stress to dissipate.

Then the person can tap the "karate chop" point on the side of the hand, with or without statements, to access the electro-magnetic field further and ennervate the meridian that is connected with feelings of vulnerability, abandonment, insecurity, and other painful feelings often associated with PTSD symptoms.

Just by tapping these two points one can get beyond the active emotions and find a place of greater peace that will enable them to then find a facilitator to help them clear the underlying emotional issues causing the pain.

To learn more you may go to the article posted here in the MTTProNetwork entitled: "MTT & EFT Tips to Dispelling Active Emotions in PTSD" also posted on this same date, or contact the author directly.

I haven't heard of the third eye tapping point before, just the eyebrow tapping point - exactly where is it and what is it supposed to do? Do you use it in any of the sequences?
Thank you for your question about the 3rd eye/between the eye-brows tapping point. I've been using this point for years in Neuro Emotional Technique and other energy modalities to dis-engage left brain chatter and the stress thereof. It has proven to be quite effective and is easy to access whether a person knows the EFT protocol or not. It is not only an energy point, but is also adjacent to both of the eyebrow points which correspond to the bladder meridian, and just between two points connected with the pituitary gland. In N.E.T. we check these points to ensure the tapping work is complete and the body doesn't require additional support in the way of homeopathic remedies. I do not utilize this point in any of the EFT sequences per se, however I do share the point with anybody who is experiencing deep pain, stress, panic, PTSD episodes, anger, etc. This can help them to calm the extreme emotion when it is active, and then seek support or go into the full protocol to clear it.
What are the numbers saying about the effectiveness of this method? How does it compare to some of the other methods? Is this hard science or would it fall into the class of suedo-sciences? Thank you for the information, I am trying to make a decision as to which therapy to recommend to my fellow Vets.
Thank you for your very good question. I know that I have been using the between-the-eyebrows/3rd eye point for successfully breaking up left mind chatter for many years. This comes from several different disciplines based on acupuncture and the meridian system. At this point I cannot provide specific studies with statistics on this, however I will identify these and provide them at a later date. Thank you for keeping me on my toes so that I have this data the next time that somebody asks! In the meantime, you might try using this point with some of your clients who are not in serious panic situations, but who are suffering from the stress of inner mind chatter. When they feel the tension and stress rising and would like to quiet the persistant voice in their head, by tapping between the eyebrows the thoughts tend to become less intense, the strength of their message becomes less focused, and eventually the thoughts tend to fragment and scatter, leaving the person feeling relieved and sometimes a bit spacey. You can test this yourself to identify results. Thanks again, and I'll do some research homework!
I have been doing the EFT tapping technic for mind chatter as well. I have also combined an oriental technic known as Falun Gong. This a technic that for lack of a better term, Has provided additional mind clearing results when done with EFT. I discuss it further on my website. www.a1asatellite.com for additional info. It's on the meditation page. When I use the technics together (first EFT then FG) it has provided a way to totally make my minds chatter vanish. I also believe that the FG movements attract an energy. (some low level electrical energy) And it aids in clear whatever may be present in the human electrical system. These are my thoughts (and not science). But I have found when using these together a beneficial combination.
The Chinese call this point (between the eyebrows) "extra point number 1" or "Yintang". Research shows that this acupoint calms brainwave activity to levels close to what people experience during anesthesia. Here are 3 studies which reference this point (among others): Litscher G. Effects of acupressure, manual acupuncture and Laserneedle acupuncture on EEG bispectral index and spectral edge frequency in healthy volunteers. European Journal of Anesthesiology 2004;21:13-19. Fassoulaki A, Paraskeva A, Patris K et al. Pressure applied on the extra 1 acupuncture point reduces bispectral index values and stress in volunteers. Anesth Analg 2003,96:885-9. Thank you readers for providing not only some good research into what this point does and how it has been used in other modalities, but also your cases of successful use of the 3rd eye to quiet the overactive left brain chatter. I hope all of our comments will benefit many people who need this! Thank you!  Anne Merkel, Ph.D. http://arielagroup.com

Recently I shared the 3rd eye (between the eyebrows)point with a client so that he could calm his over-active left brain and dissolve the stressful mind-chatter that he normally encounters when he is worried or problem-solving. This week he shared with me that he has had great success using it after he has done EFT tapping and tail-enders or negative thoughts creep into his awareness. As the mind chatter starts to beat up on him or argue that the tapping was useless, or that he is worthless, or that he shouldn't expect the process to work, etc., he then taps and says that the inner voice volume goes down and disappears. He loves the technique and uses it regularly now to ensure that the positive effects of his tapping are supported fully and not sabotaged by follow-up negative mind chatter! I'm so glad that he adopted this useful technique in this way - something that I had not even thought of - to enhance his EFT practice results!
this point is integrated by remap technique a long time age. Steve Reed worked with austin university to study what happens when you stimulaye third eye the brain waves decreased almost as you are in ansthesia ... so you are going through the hypnosis waves it is one of the reasons why you are relaxing a lot and you can increase the results of your tapping ;-) warmly regards, yves d cep . belgium coordinator ACEP .
